the Garage 8th anniversary
2025 / gold cardstock / digital 1080 x 1350px
When I was approached by Garage Gym to design their 8th anniversary key visual—one that embodies their ethos of being ego-free, gender-free, and judgment-free—I immediately thought about how we, myself included, tend to perceive the world through our own unique set of lenses.
But what struck me as even more empowering was the idea that these lenses aren’t fixed. They can be adjusted, or even removed entirely, if we allow ourselves to be open—open to change, to empathy, and to seeing others as they truly are, beyond labels or assumptions.
From this perspective, I conceived an imagery built on the tension and beauty of polar opposites: a feathered wing alongside an aircraft wing, symbolising nature versus technology; wings versus limbs and legs, suggesting different forms of movement—flying or running; a prosthetic limb contrasted with the powerful claws of a beast, challenging our perceptions of ability and strength.
Through these elements, I wanted to express that there isn’t a single, linear way to define ability, grit, or tenacity—much less how one should look in order to embody them. Strength takes many forms, and so does the freedom to be fully, unapologetically yourself.
The Garage 8th Anniversary Key Visual was first published on their social media page in April, to kickstart their year-long anniversary celebrations.
